Call-out for female writers and performers for the event A BODY OF MY OWN
We are delighted to announce that we will be holding the event A Body of My Own on International Women’s Day at Central Library in Liverpool to celebrate women’s bodies! And we need you to join in the celebration!
We are inviting all the women of Liverpool and beyond, of all ages, to celebrate and own their body by writing and submitting a text about it. That text could take the form of an anecdote, a poem, thoughts etc. It could be a reflection around the female body in general, tell about your own relationship with your body or be about a specific part of your body that you share a history with, that you cherish, that you would like to celebrate or just talk about because you can and want to!
The submitted texts will then be read out anonymously at the FREE event A Body of My Own that will take place on 8th March 2018 at 6pm in the Hornby Reading Room at Liverpool Central Library. For this part, we are also seeking female performers/confident readers, of all ages and of all body shapes, who would be willing to deliver a reading of the texts selected. If you are interested in taking part as a reader, please get in touch for more information and send us a short introduction highlighting any relevant work. (Please note that everyone involved in this event is taking part on a voluntary basis.)
Please submit your text before the 26th February 2018 along with the following information: Name, age and email address. Your data will only be used for administrative purposes and rest assured that your text will be treated with the utmost care and will remain anonymous at the sharing. Feel free to submit more than one text! All texts should be sent to the following address: labansheecompany@gmail.com.
Any questions, just get in touch. We look forward to reading your text and to you celebrating your body!
A Body of My Own is a FREE event and tickets can be booked HERE.
